Historic properties offer distinctive character and strong market appeal, but they also require specialized knowledge. Working with Historic Real Estate provides real estate professionals with practical guidance for navigating the sale and stewardship of historic properties in Knoxville and across East Tennessee. This course introduces the fundamentals of historic preservation and explores how preservation supports economic growth and strengthens communities. Participants will learn about Knoxville’s historic neighborhoods and architectural styles, archaeology considerations, and the differences between National and local historic districts. 

Presenters from Knox Heritage and Knoxville–Knox County Planning will also explain zoning, design review, preservation incentives, and helpful tools available to agents and property owners. 

The class concludes with a panel discussion and Q&A, equipping attendees to confidently serve clients interested in historic properties.
